Morocco is  known for its rich culture, captivating architecture, and diverse terrain. Morocco’s weather is interesting because it’s a mix of Mediterranean and Atlantic climates. In this blog, I’ll share my experience of weather in Morocco and what you can expect during each season.

In Morocco we fondly joke that the weather feels like summer outside and winter inside. Moroccan homes are mostly made with tiles and marbles giving it a cooling effect inside the home. While the sun is mostly out all year round, giving a warmer feeling outside.

I was based in Casablanca and in my experience, the weather is generally warm and sunny during the day throughout the year. Except during winter which is December to February. At night the temperature drops with an average of 5-10 degree Celsius. During summer time if you want to stay out late at night be sure to bring another layer of clothing or a scarf . My experience of the rainy season was short, with a few drizzles of rain which could last for only a few minutes. On an annual average I experienced around 5 days of rain.

In Morocco I love the clear blue skies throughout the year. Weather is not too hot and not too cold. The country’s location, with the Atlas Mountains to the north and the Sahara Desert to the south, protects it from many weather patterns that could cause cloudy or stormy conditions. During the summer months, the skies are especially clear, making it an ideal time to explore the country’s stunning landscapes and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and sightseeing. However, it’s important to note that even during the winter months when temperatures drop, the skies can still be beautifully clear, making for a picturesque backdrop for any adventure.

Here is a guide of what to expect of Morocco weather throughout the year:

Morocco Weather in Summer (June – September)

Morocco experiences scorching and arid weather during the summer months, particularly in the central regions, where temperatures can soar to the mid to high 30s°C (90s°F) and above. However, coastal cities such as Rabat and Casablanca are more pleasant due to the refreshing ocean breeze, resulting in moderate temperatures.

The lows during summer can be around 20-25°C (68-77°F) while the highs can reach 35-45°C (95-113°F).

As the days are hot, it is recommended to carry a light jacket or sweater for the cooler evenings. Be sure to drink plenty of liquid and bring a head cover. The air can be very dry, and the direct sun can feel burning.  If you are not used to extreme heat, it can give a heat stroke.

Morocco Weather in Fall (October – November)

Based on experience, rain does not last long, you can wait for a few minutes for it to pass.

Moroccan winters can be quite cold, especially in the mountainous regions, which often experience snow and frost. Coastal cities are relatively milder, with temperatures ranging from the mid-teens to low 20s°C (50s-60s°F) during the day. At night, inland cities like Marrakech can become chilly, with temperatures falling below freezing. It is recommended to pack warm clothing during this period, especially if you plan to explore the countryside or spend time in the mountains

The lows can be around 5-10°C (41-50°F) while the highs can reach up to 20°C (68°F).

Under the direct sun it can still feel warm, though the breeze is cold.

As winter draws to a close, Morocco experiences a pleasant and mild spring season. During the spring in Morocco (March – May), the average high temperature ranges from the low to mid-20s°C (70s°F), while the average low temperature ranges from the mid-10s to low 20s°C (50s-60s°F) There is a possibility of rainfall during this season, primarily in northern and coastal regions.
